"So the first priority for me will be to decide who do I rest and who do I bring in and how will the players recover. Charlton have had one day more than us to recover than us so my concern is physical as well for Saturday."
Like other Premier League clubs, Arsenal are playing three games in a week over a hectic holiday period, having started out last Sunday with a 2-0 win over Fulham. The action continues with another round of matches on Monday and Tuesday.
Along with home advantage at The Valley, Charlton will also be buoyed by a run of four wins from five games.
"Charlton are playing well and like many teams they play with five across the midfield and one up front so it is always difficult," Wenger said.
"We play everywhere with two strikers but now in England there is a trend for everyone to play with five across the middle of the park. Of course, our midfielders have to battle hard but they can score goals as well."
Wenger will be without Spanish forward Jose Antonio Reyes, who is expected to return from a knee injury in an FA Cup tie against Stoke City on January 9, while Cameroon right-back Lauren should play despite hurting his knee against Newcastle.
Dutch playmaker Dennis Bergkamp could be given the green light to return if tests on a thigh problem are satisfactory.
